Best Yoto Cards for Preschoolers | Tried and True Favorites

Today I am sharing the best Yoto Cards for Preschoolers that my 4 year old has loved and listened to over and over again.

We have had my kids’ Yoto Players for almost 3 years now. It comes with us on every road trip, every plane ride. My kids listen to it while they play and sometimes when they go to sleep at night. It is my favorite kid item I have ever gotten for them and definitely something that if we lost it or broke it, I would repurchase it immediately.

If you don’t know, the Yoto is a screen free audio player that you insert cards to play whatever is on them. They have cards with stories, songs, meditations, nature sounds, and more. It has a large pixel display which, when turned face down, will become a nightlight; a slot to insert the Yoto cards; two speakers on either side; two knobs that control the volume and tracks, and a headphone jack. There is the Yoto Original and the Yoto Mini.

There are hundreds and hundreds of Yoto cards on their website, so I figured I would share what my four year old has been loving and listening to on repeat. Last year, I shared what his favorite cards were when he was three years old so I will share that here if you currently have a three year old! Best Yoto Cards for Toddlers | Tried and True Favorites

He still loves those cards and listens to them often. But we continue to get new cards and he is always finding new ones that he loves.

So after paying close attention to the cards he chooses over an over, I am going to share my 4 year old’s *current* favorite Yoto cards do give you an idea of what to pick up if you are looking for yoto cards for your preschooler.

Best Yoto Cards for 4 Year Olds

Magic Treehouse Series: As he’s gotten older, our 4 year old has really gotten into the Magic Treehouse series. He has some favorites that he listens to over and over again. They are fun for me to hear as well as I read them when I was a kid! *Bonus: Part of Yoto Club

5 Minute Construction Stories: These silly stories about different pieces of construction equipment are entertaining and my 4 year old is always giggling. We have tried more cards from the Yoto Originals collection recently and they have all been a hit. *Bonus: Part of Yoto Club

Mighty Pup Power: We are still on the Paw Patrol Train over here and this one is a well loved Yoto Card.. I love that my kids can listen to them but doesn’t have to stare at a screen to enjoy the stories. If you have a kid who loves Paw Patrol, I’d definitely recommend one of their cards. (Just a heads up, the voice is not from the Paw Patrol show, just a random reader. Yoto cards like Peppa Pig and Daniel Tiger actually use the voices from the show.)

101 Dalmatians: Going along with the T.V. show cards, my preschooler really enjoys the Disney Yoto cards based off of the Disney movies. He loves the 101 Dalmatians which is a great retelling of the movie. *Bonus: Part of Yoto Club

The Smartest Giant in Town: This is a cute story that has become a favorite of my 4 year old. You can’t go wrong with any of Julia Donaldson’s stories. You can buy them in a pack with all her popular books for a really great deal.

LadyBird Audio Human Body: Now that he’s older, my preschooler has listened to many more of the Ladybird Audio Adventures and loves them all. Some are too old, but they all have age suggestions so you can get an idea of what your kid might like. The Human Body has been his newest obsession.

BrainBots: Sea Defenders: I love that these BrainBot Yoto cards are educational and fun. This one about ocean life is a hit. It’s about these kids on a school trip who learn about what lives in the ocean and how to take care of it. There’s also BrainBots Wildlife Defenders that he loves!

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory: We watched this show with our 4 year old and he loved it so much I knew I wanted to get him the audiobook. Roald Dahl is a fantastic author with wacky books. I read a lot of them as kids and it’s fun to listen along with him. You can check out all of his books in this The Swashboggling Collection.

Classic Fairy Stories: There are a lot of Fairytale Yoto cards and this has been a favorite of my 4 year olds since we got it. He particularly likes Jack and the Beanstalk. There are 8 stories total and I like that they are each broken up into multiple tracks so he can skip around to different parts in the story if he wants to.

5-Minute Stories in the Wild: This card is a newer one to our collection but has been listened to at least 50 times. It’s different stories about wild animals and shares fun stories from animal’s perspectives. *Bonus: Part of Yoto Club

Headphones for Kids to Listen to Yoto Players

These are the kid headphones my 4 year old uses when he listens to his Yoto Player on the airplane or sometimes in the car. We have had them for a couple years now with no issues. I like that the connector piece is metal so it’s less likely to break at that weak point.

Our two year old doesn’t like to keep on traditional over the ear headphones so I decided to give these headband headphones a try and they worked like a charm. She kept them on and actually enjoyed wearing them. They are bluetooth as well as chorded but I have yet had a chance to test out the bluetooth feature. They are adjustable on the back to fit a range of kid head sizes.
