I find shopping for my kids Christmas gifts to be really enjoyable. I like to get them gifts that are intentional and that they will use over and over and still enjoy. We love spending time outside but I think inside play is just as important. I want my kids to feel creative and get to be in charge of their playtime.
Logan and I spent a lot of days deciding what to get our kids and making sure they would not be toys that ended up in the trash or donation pile a few weeks after Christmas was over. So with all of that being said, here are the Christmas gifts we are getting for our kids in 2023.

What I’m Getting My 4 Year Old Boy
Kinetic Sand Castle Playset
Kinetic Sand Castle Playset: Kinetic sand has become one of my kids’ favorite play things so this Castle Playset will be the perfect place to house it and make fun new creations. It also comes with more sand which we can never have enough of.
Marvel Lego Set
Marvel Lego Set: I’m excited K is finally getting old enough to start getting Legos. We got him a Lego suitcase for his birthday so he has really been loving building little towers and garages. Now he gets to put together some cars and have little figures he recognizes. I think this is just the beginning of a lot of Lego set gifting.
Magnetic Tiles
Magnetic Tiles: Magnetic tiles are one of the most used toys in our house so I love to add to the collection. I thought this box of unique cut outs would be fun and the kids could come up with some new ideas of things to build. Snagged this on Amazon Prime Day so got it for a great deal.
Stories for 4 Year Olds
Stories for 4 Year Olds: K loves fairytales so I think this big book of classics is going to be a hit. He has recently become interested in chapter books but I want to make sure we still include a lot of picture books in our routine and I think this one will be one he loves for years to come.
What’s In My 4 Year Olds Stocking
- Paw Patrol Electric Toothbrush
- Yoto Cards (Discount hailey10): We love our Yoto players so getting new cards for Christmas is always a hit
- The Magic Treehouse Collection
- Funny Stories for 4 Year Olds
- Ladybird Audio Adventures: The Human Body
- George’s Marvelous Medicine
- Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle
- Candy Cane Tube: You know those clear candy cane tubes that have candy inside that you can get at Walmart for $2? Yeah, that’s what this is
What I’m Getting My *Almost* 2 Year Old Girl
Baby Doll
Baby Doll: My daughter loves babies and stuffed animals so I think she is going to love having her own baby doll to hold and carry around. I would love to get her a higher quality doll but I want to make sure she enjoys playing with them first. Her birthday is in January so I will probably get her a little stroller to push her new doll in.
Mickey Mouse Figurines
Mickey Mouse Figurines: Sissy is obsessed with all things Minnie Mouse and also loves the other Mickey characters. I think these little figurines will be fun for her to set up and play with, especially on road trips. She has a little Walker Family Goods fanny pack I think she’ll love carrying them around in.
Minnie Mouse Book
Minnie Mouse Book: As I said, she is obsessed with Minnie Mouse and always is looking at the Minnie and Mickey books at the library. We have a few of the My First Bedtime Storybooks and they are a hit. This book will mostly be for car rides because she can look at pictures of Minnie for a very long time!
What’s In My *Almost* 2 Year Olds Stocking
- Mickey Mouse Electric Toothbrush
- Yoto Cards (Discount Hailey10): My daughter is really loving the Yoto Player and so I’m excited to give her some new cards to try out
- The Pout-Pout Fish Collection
- The Little Mermaid
- Ladybird First Favorite Tales
- Candy Cane Tube
Family Gift to Share
Car Rug Playmat
Car Rug Playmat: I wanted to get a bigger gift that both of our kids can play with so I decided on this Playmat that’s intended to drive toy cars on. Our library has one and the kids love so I think it is perfect and a great gift that they can both use.
Christmas doesn’t have to be all about toys. But I do think it’s a fun part and I have great memories from being a kid, opening presents on Christmas morning, and spending time together as a family.
