The Best Reima Winter Layers for Kids

Reima makes the best winter layers for kids and I’m sharing my favorites including my favorite Reima snowsuit, buntings, base layers, and accessories to keep your kids warm.

I have been using layers from Reima for about two years now and I have tested A LOT of their gear. From Reima snowsuits down to Reima socks. I wanted to have a place where I put all of my favorite pieces in one spot so you can come and compare the differences to see what layer will work best for your child.

Everyone has different needs depending on where they live and the activities they like to do, so I tried to include the reason I liked the pieces to help you know if they will work for your family.

I did not include anything I haven’t fully tested. My kids have all used these layers so you can trust that you’re getting good information from me.

Reima Base Layers

Lani Thermal Base Layer: When it’s warmer, I love this 2 piece synthetic set. It’s lightweight and breathable and does a great job at wicking away moisture to keep little ones dry and warm. It does run quite big so I would size down at least one size (maybe 2 if you want it to be snug). (Reima Discount Code: Hailey20)

Kinsei Merino Wool Blend: This is a thin base layer that is a mix of wool and tencel. Tencel is made from wood pulp using recyclable solvents. It’s great for sensitive skin. This is a great option if you want some of the benefits from wool, but at a better price.

This is also the base layer I purchased in the 14y size to see if it would fit me and it did with room to spare! I am normally a size small on top and size 4-6 on the bottoms. I’m 5’3 and pear shaped. I was worried they would be tight on the bottoms but they weren’t at all. The bottoms are a bit see through so not something I would just walk around in outside of my house. They even fit when I was 9 months pregnant!

Taival Thermal Base Layer: This is Reima’s thickest and warmest base layer. I like this set for the coldest days. I haven’t had my kids wear it on it’s own playing outside yet but it definitely feels like it wouldn’t get holes as quickly as a lot of other base layers. If your kid has sensory issues, I wouldn’t recommend this set. While it’s definitely not scratchy, it’s not the softest merino wool I have felt. (My kids have no issues with it, but just wanted to include that).

Reima Mid Layers and Buntings

Tahti Fleece Jumpsuit: A fleece jumpsuit is a great staple to have in the winter. My kids wear them around the house or I will throw it on over their clothes when we go out for a non-snowy walk or outing. I love the cinched back so it’s not baggy and fits them great.

Here is the same bunting but in a 2 piece set! This is great for you potty trained kids for easier bathroom breaks. (Reima Discount Code: Hailey20)

Myytti Fleece Jumpsuit: This fleece jumpsuit is one of my favorites. It’s soft inside but the outside, while still soft, is tightly woven and feels very durable. My kids roll around in the dirt in these things and they still look like new. They are warm so are a great outer layer for a mild winter (or fall) day.

Parvin Wool Jumpsuit: For my moms who love wool, this jumpsuit is one of my favorites. It’s a great mid layer that isn’t too thick so it doesn’t restrict movement, but has the wonderful wool properties we all love.

Reima Snowsuits

Gotland Snowsuit: This snowsuit is waterproof and well insulated. It is breathable as well which is great since my toddler hikes a lot on her own. She has no problem running around in it and the fur hood helps block the wind as well. (Reima Discount Code: Hailey20)

Lappi Snowsuit: This snowsuit is exactly the same as the Gotland (above), it just has a print. So if you are more into patterns, this is the snowsuit for you.

Stavanger Snowsuit: This is the snowsuit I have for almost 4 year old toddler this winter. It is very similar to the above Gotland but designed for an older kid. It is waterproof and insulated. It’s got a longer torso and is a little easier to move in since he mostly hikes on his own now.

Kauhava Snowsuit: I feel like my kid looks like he’s about to climb Mt. Everest when he wears this snowsuit. It’s very similar to the Stavanger snowsuit, but it does not have the fur on the hood. Waterproof material and insulated.

Reima Jackets and Pants

Kupponen Down Jacket: My kids have had these jackets for over a year and they are the best. They are so warm and cozy. They’re water-repellent so great for a really light rain or a dry snow. They’re a little long which is good to keep them warmer and I love how the collar comes around their neck. (Reima Discount Code: Hailey20)

Mahin Wool Jacket and Pants: This set is basically the Parvin jumpsuit but in 2 pieces. It is the perfect mid layer for your potty trained kids for easier bathroom breaks. It makes it so much easier for him to go to the bathroom especially on ski days. Here is the link to the pants.

Turkki Fleece Jacket: We just got this for our 4 year old this year and he wears it all the time. It’s a cute, sherpa jacket that’s pretty thick and decently warm. The zipper is nice and smooth and has a jersey fabric that sits against the skin which is very soft.

REima Accessories

Hands

Ote Mittens: These are the best winter gloves for kids. (Well, mittens) They have an adjustable cinch around the wrists to help them stay on. They come up to about mid arm. They are waterproof and insulated as well as abrasion resistant which is great for my toddler who loves to pick up and play with lots of rocks and sticks. (Reima Discount Code: Hailey20)

Feet

Nefar Winter Boots: These are the best winter boots for kids and my favorite I have ever used. The smallest size is size toddler 4.5. They are waterproof and insulated with a wool/fleece blend. The sole is thicker and the kids feet have been plenty warm every time I take them off. They are very easy to get on and my 4 year old is even able to get these on himself which I love.

Antura Baby Booties: I got these booties for my baby a couple years and love them. The fabric is waterproof and insulated keeping their toes nice and warm. The sole is a thicker fabric but not firm so it doesn’t affect her foot development. I pair them with a thick wool sock and her feet stay nice and warm.

Patter Waterproof Sneakers: These waterproof sneakers are perfect for wet or cool days. We brought these for my 3 year old when we visited Europe in the fall. He walked miles in these shoes and never complained. They are so easy to slip on and secure he could do it himself.

Head

Kuuraan Balaclava: This balaclava is unbelievably cute with the two pom poms. It’s thick, warm and is very effective in keeping kids warm in the winter. There are no gaps so the heat gets trapped. My kid’s both like to wear them and if they get warm, I just pull the hood off so they are wearing it like a neck gaiter.

Here is a link to a balaclava without pom poms. (Reima Discount Code: Hailey20)

Kalotti Wool Blend Beanie: This beanie is cute and functional. I love that it is a wool blend with no cotton so you don’t have to worry about it getting wet and staying wet. If your kid is on the size cusp, I would recommend sizing up as it doesn’t have the most stretch to it.
