Hi, I'm Hailey!
I had my first baby in December 2019. Just a few weeks later, my husband was deployed. I had so much to figure out on my own, and something that helped keep me happy and healthy was continuing my adventures outside. I’ve always loved hiking, backpacking, and rock climbing so I started bringing my baby with me. Now I share about my adventures in hopes to inspire moms around the world to get outside with their babies. Adventures don’t have to stop when you become a mom!
My message to Moms, let nature be your playground! Step outside with your kids and create magical memories through outdoor adventures. Whether it’s a hike, a picnic, or simply exploring the neighborhood, the world outside is full of wonder waiting to be discovered. Embrace the joy of shared experiences and watch your children flourish in the embrace of nature’s beauty.
Growing Up
I was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada and lived there until I was 18 years old. I have two sisters and two brothers. My mom and dad loved to take us camping and that was our main vacations. When we had a day off of school, my mom would take us hiking up in the nearby mountain called Mount Charleston. I did always like hiking growing up and would complain that I just wanted to stay home. But I’m so glad that my mom always made getting out in nature a priority for us.
When I was 14, I went on my first backpacking trip in Pine Valley, Utah. It was a church girl’s retreat that my mom headed and an amazing experience. I got to go two years in a row and developed a love for having everything I need on my back, carrying it into the backcountry, and living on very little. I’ve been on many backpacking trips since, but that first one will always be special to me.
Family Life
I married Logan in December 2015. We met in Provo, Utah through a mutual friend. We have gone on some incredible adventures together. We love to rock climb together, camp, hike, and Logan has even taught me to snowboard (bless him). We got our dog Summit after a couple years of being married and he is the best boy ever! Our favorite adventure though has been raising a baby together. Kirk is the light of our lives and I don’t know what we would do without him!
When Kirk was just three weeks old though, Logan was deployed overseas. He has been in the Air Force reserves since 2013 and this was his first deployment. I moved home with my parents in Vegas so they could help me with our new baby. Lucky I did because Covid happened not long after that and it was so nice to be in my parents home with a backyard for Summit and to be quarantined with them.
Raising Kirk without Logan was the hardest thing I’ve ever done. The sleepless nights were long and having to do all the diaper changes and bedtime routines alone was so exhausting. But the worst part was knowing Logan was missing some of Kirk’s most incredible milestones. His first smile, laugh, hearing his first word, watching him learn to roll over were treasures that Logan had to miss. That never got easier.
But Logan came home after a long seven months and dove right back into fatherhood. We took Kirk on his first camping trip just a few days later and were in heaven to be back together.
