Here is what we are getting our kids Christmas. This post is great if you are looking for gift ideas for 6 year old boys, gift ideas for 4 year old girls and gift ideas for a 1 year old for Christmas.

For the past 4 years I have put together lists of gift ideas for kids and love pulling from things my kids already have and love. But I also find it fun to share what I’m actually getting my kids for Christmas.
This year I am getting gifts for my 6 year old son, *almost* 4 year old daughter, and our 1 year old baby boy. For my baby, I’m really just getting a couple of things I feel like all the kids will enjoy because what he loves most is crawling after his big brother and sister and loves to be included. So finding things that they could do with him was what was my main focus when looking.
Throughout the year I try and pay attention to what gets used most in our house and what we end up donating. There’s a reoccurring theme that open-ended play items usually stand the test of time. This year I wanted to focus on that for my kids, as well as getting them things that will help them use their imagination. And for my son, I wanted to help him learn some new skills as well.
Both Logan and I spent a lot of time deciding what to get our kids and making sure they would not be toys that ended up in the trash or donation pile a few weeks after Christmas was over. What I’m Getting My 6 Year Old Boy
First Whitting Knife for Kids

Stainless Steel Folding Pocket Knife: This is a folding pocket knife that has a rounded safety tip. I think it will be a great intro knife for my son and help him learn how to start whittling with sticks we find camping as well as cutting up foods or whatever he’s wanting to. It will be a great learning tool. Pairing it with these kids cutting gloves too!
Kids Cutting Gloves

Kids Cutting Gloves: We have a family friend that have these for their kids when they help prepare dinner. The kids can cut up vegetables, fruit, or whatever they need and wear these without worrying about knicking themselves. I knew this would be perfect to get for him to pair with his new whittling knife.
All Terrain Remote Control Car

Remote Control Car: Remote control cars are always a hit in our family, but they’re not all made equally. This car is super durable. It can handle crashes, going off rocks, and even being driven through puddles. I know he is going to get a ton of use out of this.
Sword and Shield Duo

Noble Knight Foam Sword & Shield Set: I just know this is going to get a ton of use with both of my kids. He can play fight with his sister, or if a friend comes over (and you can just buy one sword and shield if you don’t feel the need for a set). I love all of the imagination at play when kids play dress up and this is going to be right up his alley.
Fire Rescue Plane LEGO Set

Fire Rescue Plane Lego Set: I feel like a LEGO set is going to be a staple Christmas and Birthday gift for years to come. This one is much bigger than I was expecting and I know my son is going to be so excited. I know he will be spending hours on Christmas day putting this together and I can’t wait to see.
The Hobbit – Illustrated Copy

The Hobbit: I bought this beautifully illustrated copy of the Hobbit to read with my son. I’ve actually never read the Hobbit but I have great memories of hiking with my mom and my mom telling us the story of Bilbo on the trail. I think this is going to be a really fun ready for both my son and myself.
Tracks, Scats, and Signs Book

Take Along Guide Book: This fits into the theme of teaching my kids useful life skill. I think the illustrations in this book are beautiful and I can’t wait to bring this out in the summer to do some track and scat hunting with the kids.
What’s in My 6 Year Old’s Stocking
Yoto Cards: I always put new Yoto cards in the kids stockings and here is what I got him this year:
- Ladybird Audio Adventures Volume 7
- Dragon Masters
- The Zoey and Sassafras Collection
- Camp Dino Season 2
A new toothbrush
Bandaids
Candy
What I’m Getting My *Almost* 4 Year Old Girl
Barbie Dream Camper

Barbie Dream Camper: This was sent to me back in October from Mattel when it first launched and I couldn’t be more grateful. I knew immediately my daughter would be obsessed so I saved it for Christmas. We love camping, especially my kids, so I’m excited for her to take her Barbies camping even when we are home. All of the accessories are so cute (although I’m sure we will lose the tiny ones immediately haha).
She’ll also be getting a few Barbies to go along with her new Dream Camper.
Play Silks

Montessori Large Silk Scarves: Play silks are a great open ended toy. They can use them for endless things like a cape, setting up a scene with the blue silk as water and the green silk as the grass. I started my daughter with a less expensive set of play silks but they got torn up pretty quick from all of the use so I’m excited to upgrade hers to this higher quality set.
Play Silks Fairy Wings

Fairy/Butterfly Silk Wings: I wasn’t sure if I was going to get these wings for my daughter, but she loves dress up so much, I just know these are going to be worn daily in the house (and probably outside of it too). I think these are just the perfect gift for any dress up loving 4 year old.
Play Silks Rainbow Streamer

I’m really leaning into the play silks and decided to get her these fun streamers to play with. They’ll be fun for her to dance with, make into her magic wands, or whatever her big imagination comes up with.
The Year at Maple Hill Farm Book

The Year at Maple Hill Farm: I just think these illustrations are beautiful. And I love that it goes through what the different seasons on a farm look like. I can’t wait to add this to our home library and read it all year long together.
Elsa Dress Up Crown and Shoes

Dress up Crown and Shoes: This was a last minute gift, but my daughter saw these when we were shopping for Angel Tree and was immediately obsessed. They were only $7 and I know she will wear them daily so I added them to my next grocery order. I can’t wait for her to open them.
What’s in My 6 Year Old’s Stocking
Yoto Cards: I always put new Yoto cards in the kids stockings and here is what I got him this year:
- Angelina Ballerina
- Paw Patrol: Air Rescue
- 5-Minute Magical Stories Pack
- Disney Junior Story Book Collection
A new toothbrush
Bandaids
Candy
What I’m Getting My 1 Year Old
Play Tunnel

Play Tunnel: I think all 3 of my kids are going to love this play tunnel. It will be perfect when they build forts to add in to the mix or add on to an obstacle course. And anything my older kids are doing, my baby will be sure to follow.
Press and Go Cars

Press and Go Cars: These cars are so cute and look perfect for my 1 year old. You just push down the animals and the cars go. I know my other kids will also have fun playing with these as well. And finding toys my kids can all play with is always a hit.
