The Best Travel Car Seats, Boosters, Strollers and More

This post is dedicated to sharing my favorite car seats, boosters seats, and strollers that has made traveling with our three kids that much easier.

Traveling with kids can especially feel overwhelming at first, but after doing it many times—including long flights and trips to multiple countries—I’ve found a rhythm and travel gear that works for us.

Whether we’re headed international or camping near our home, I feel like I’ve become very well versed in gear that travels well, transports kids easily, and keeps them safe in lots of different modes of transportation. I know it can feel overwhelming to travel with kids, but hopefully this post can help you know what

Below is a compilation of the travel gear that I recommend to any traveling family that can easily come with them on any vacation.

Travel Gear: Boosters and Car Seats

The Wayb Pico car seat is a lightweight, compact, and highly portable forward-facing car seat designed for children aged 2 years and older. It weighs just 8 pounds and folds down small enough to fit in an airplane overhead bin. We’ve had ours for a few years and both of our older kids have used it.

I did an in depth product review of this car seat you can check out here 👉Wayb Pico Car Seat Review

If you have an older kid that rides in a booster seat, we got this inflatable booster seat that packs down very small and is super lightweight. It’s super compact and blows up quickly with no pump. It also has a machine washable cloth cover. Perfect for quick uber rides, rental cars, and airplanes. They have really great customer services, and a lifetime warranty on their products.

These RideSafer portable car seats are both safe and legal (in all U.S. states). These harnesses come into a few different sizes, making them super versatile for a variety of age ranges and mega packable for multiple kids.

If you do need to fly/travel with a full sized carseat, this padded car seat travel backpack
is perfect to put your carseat in to keep it from getting scuffed up if it does get gate checked. The shoulder/backpack strap make it that much easier to haul your car seat around. If you do plan on checking it at the gate, it’s a great way to send a few more kid items packed in the same bag!

AirPlane Beds and ACCESSORIES

This airplane bed spans the gap between seat and has a soft velvet top and anti-slip bottom. There is a little pocket on the side for toys and snacks, and it’s really quick to set up. It’s definitely meant for small kids, and wouldn’t be great for large toddlers. It has a

If nothing else, it’s a great way to create a little play area for little kids where their toys won’t fall down in front of the seat.

This foot hammock is for my shorties or anyone whose legs get restless on the ground. This little hammock just straps over the tray table and raises your feet up. I don’t know why, but it is just so much more comfortable. It’s especially nice when I’m holding by sleeping baby because I can put their weight on my legs without hurting my back.

This blow up toddler bed has been a game changer. We took it on our trip to Japan for our overnight flight and it was sooo awesome. It’s great for little kids because it has little inflatable bumpers on the side and a little blow up pillow. The pump is slightly cumbersome, but very worth it.

Blow up airplane seat extender lets your kids stretch out their legs or lay down and sleep on a plane. It’s been a lifesaver on international flights and is easy to store during trips. This extender can also be inflated to different heights and can be used by adults for a foot rest too.

My Favorite Travel Stroller and Carriers

Thule Shine Stroller has been my go-to travel stroller for years. I love that the seat can be switched from forward to rear facing, adjustable handlebar length, and has an easy one hand fold. It also has a rider board attachment that makes it great for two kids. It’s a great size for lots of different types of terrain.

If you’re still on the fence, check this other post on why it really is the best travel stroller.

Thule Spring Compact Stroller: I’ve been trying out the new Thule Spring 2 stroller while traveling in Montenegro and have been really enjoying it. The 3 wheels handle the cobblestone and uneven terrain great, the one handed fold is super simple, the canopy offers sun protection all day, and there is plenty of storage.

After years of using the Ergobaby Omni Breeze on hikes, travels, and everyday outings, I can confidently say it’s one of the best pieces of baby gear I own. It’s comfortable, durable, and truly grows with your child—which makes it worth every bit of the investment. If you’re looking for a carrier that can do it all, this is the one I’ll always recommend.
