Honest Ergobaby Omni Breeze review after 4 years of use with multiple kids. See why this breathable baby carrier is my go-to for our family adventures.

I’ve been babywearing since I had my first baby over 5 years ago. I’ve worn my kids through airports, on hundreds of hikes, grocery runs, and plenty of everyday chaos. Out of all the carriers I’ve tried, the Ergobaby Omni Breeze has been the one I always grab for. I’ve owned it for almost four years, used it with all three of my kids, and it’s still the carrier I use most often.
It’s supportive, versatile, and breathable enough to handle everything from long backpacking trips to traveling around the world. In this post, I’m sharing my full review of the Ergobaby Omni Breeze: what I love about it, how it’s held up after years of use, and whether I think it’s worth it for other families.
The Ergobaby Omni Breeze:
The Ergobaby Omni Breeze is a versatile, all-in-one baby carrier designed to grow with your child from newborn through toddlerhood (7–45 lbs). Made with SoftFlex™ Mesh, it’s one of the most breathable structured carriers on the market, keeping both parent and baby cool during long days out. With four carrying positions, padded straps, lumbar support, and thoughtful extras like storage pockets and a UPF hood, it’s built for comfort, durability, and everyday adventures.
Ergobaby Omni Breeze: Features at a Glance

Weight & Age Range
- Minimum: 7 lb (3.2 kg) and minimum height ~ 20 in / 50.8 cm
- Maximum: 45 lb (20.4 kg)
- The carrier is marketed for ages “0-48 months” (newborn through toddler)
*While the specs allow use from birth, I find that it’s a better fit starting around 6–8 weeks depending on your babies size.
Carrying Positions
The Omni Breeze allows for four main carry/position options:
- Front facing inward – where your baby is facing you and you are chest to chest.
- Front facing outward – Your baby is facing away from you so their back is to your chest. you should wait to do this once your baby has good neck/head control
- Back carry – I like to wait to do this once my baby is able to sit up on their own (around 6 months) since I can’t check on their breathing when they’re on my back.
- Hip Carry – I’ve actually never done carry position with my babies, but it does seem comfortable.

Fabric & Breathability
One of my favorite things about the the Omni Breeze is how breathable it is. It has SoftFlex™ Mesh fabric (diamond-shaped mesh) over most of the carrier to maximize airflow and keep you and baby cooler and drier.
The carrier also has a vented waistbelt and lumbar support “cutouts” (or mesh/foam ventilation) to allow airflow where it’s most needed.
Adjustability & Straps
The reason you can use the same carrier for a small baby and a toddler is because the Omni Breeze is very adjustable. It has an adjustable seat width (Velcro tabs with color guides) as your baby gets bigger. It also has a panel that can be shortened or extended for head and neck support.
The padded shoulder straps can be worn straight or crossed on your back for comfort, while the wide lumbar support waistband (fits ~25.5–55 in / 65–140 cm) helps distribute weight evenly.
Safety details like double-locking buckles and easy-to-reach front adjustments make it really easy to get the right fit.

And something that I (again) love about the Omni Breeze are the strap sliders that you can adjust depending on if you are facing your baby inward or outward. It used to be buttons to adjust but the sliders are so much more simple and help make sure your baby is in the correct “M” position.
Storage & Extra Features
I really like the little extras on the Omni Breeze because they make a big difference when you’re out and about. The side pockets and removable pouch are perfect for stashing my phone, keys, or a pacifier, and the sun hood has saved us so many times for naps or quick nursing sessions on the go.
- Side Pockets: There are two side pockets sewn into the waistband—one on each side—for small items like keys, phone, etc.
- Zippable Pouch: A removable zippered pouch (attached to waistband front) is included for quick-access items.
- Sun Shade: Built-in hood (UPF protection) tucked into the top or a pocket of the carrier. It can be used for sun shading, nap privacy, or breastfeeding cover.
- Accessory Loops / Reflective Elements: All of the Omni carriers include pacifier loops, some reflective strips, and accessory compatibility (like the rain and snow covers).
- Packability: The carrier can be folded / rolled pretty compactly to fit into a bag or under a stroller.
- Machine Washable: Machine washable (cold, gentle), fasten all buckles before washing, remove detachable pouch. Hang dry recommended (I have tossed it in the drier on low heat before and it was fine!)
- Lifetime Guarantee: Ergobaby offers a lifetime guarantee for manufacturing or material defects.
- Hip Health: The Omni carriers (including Breeze) are recognized by the International Hip Dysplasia Institute as “hip-healthy.”
Comfort for Parents
Both Logan and I have carried all 3 of our kids in the Ergobaby Omni Breeze now and find it to be very comfortable, even as they get older. Here are some things I love about it:
Shoulder Straps & Waistband Support: The padded straps and wide waistband with lumbar support spread weight evenly, keeping pressure off your shoulders and lower back.
Fit for Different Body Types: The carrier adjusts to fit both petite and larger frames, making it versatile for all body shapes and sizes.
Adjusting Between Caregivers: Buckles and straps adjust quickly, so swapping the carrier between parents (or caregivers) is simple and doesn’t require a full reset.

Comfort for Baby
I feel like my babies are always comfortable and happy in the Ergobaby Omni Breeze carrier. I love how much detail was put into it and all of the ways they made sure your baby was comfortable and safe while in the carrier.
Napping & Nursing: The built-in UPF hood is one of my favorite features. It offers shade and sun protection on really sunny days, privacy while nursing, and extra head support when needed.
Ergonomic Positioning: Supports the natural “M” shape for hips and knees, keeping baby’s legs and spine in a healthy position as they grow.
Head, Neck & Back Support: The adjustable panel height gives newborns extra head and neck support, and is also great for toddlers to get more back coverage as they get taller.
Breathability: The mesh fabric allows for more airflow around your baby, helping reduce overheating on hot days or long carries.
Ease of Use
Getting Baby In and Out The buckles are easy to clip and unclip, and with a little practice you can put baby in or take them out on your own without help.
Switching Carry Positions Built-in sliders and adjustable seat settings make it simple to switch from inward- to outward-facing, or move baby onto your hip or back as they grow.
On-the-Go Adjustments Straps tighten and loosen from the front, so you don’t have to reach behind your back—making it quick to adjust while walking, hiking, or traveling.
Storage Pocket Use The two side pockets and front zip pouch are handy for holding essentials like keys, a phone, or a pacifier so you don’t always need a diaper bag on a quick outing.
When I Use My Ergobaby Omni Breeze
Basically anytime I want to go somewhere with my baby and be hands free. There’s lots of times I want to go out and don’t want to bring my stroller, or I know my baby will be happier if I am wearing them. Here’s some of my favorite times to babywear:
- Everyday errands
- Hiking
- With my babies under 6 months old
- When I’m pregnant – I find the soft carrier to be more comfortable than my framed carrier in my third trimester.
- Double carrying both my kids – I find 2 soft carriers to be the most comfortable way to do this
- When I’m hiking with Logan and he’s got all our gear, sometimes I’ll still just bring the soft carrier to carry our kid since it’s less weight than the framed carrier.
- Traveling with my baby – I never travel with my framed hiking carrier, I will just bring my Omni Breeze because it’s so much more compact and portable.
- At home – Sometimes I need to get things done but my babies need some extra snuggles. This is why I love baby wearing so much.
- Walks around the neighborhood – It’s basically a weighted vest but cuter

Durability: How the Omni Breeze Has Held Up Over the Years
One of the things I love most about the Ergobaby Omni Breeze is how well it has lasted. I’ve had the same carrier for almost four years now, and it has been through a lot—hundreds of hikes, everyday outings, and trips across multiple countries. Despite all that use, it’s still in great shape. The mesh hasn’t stretched out, the straps and buckles are just as secure as when I first bought it, and the lumbar support hasn’t lost its structure.
I’ve worn it in every season, packed it into suitcases, and even stuffed it under airplane seats, and it continues to hold up beautifully. It’s one of those pieces of baby gear that feels like a true investment because it’s carried me (and my kids) through so many adventures without showing much wear.
Pro Tip: Fasten the buckles before tossing it in the wash and hang it to dry. It keeps the mesh and straps looking like new for years.
Pros and Cons of the Ergobaby Omni Breeze
Pros of the Ergobaby Omni Breeze
- Breathable mesh fabric keeps both baby and parent cooler, especially in warm weather or on hikes.
- Works from newborn to toddler (7–45 lb) without needing an infant insert.
- Four carry positions (inward, outward, hip, back) cover every stage and situation.
- Supportive for parents with padded straps and lumbar support that spreads out baby’s weight.
- Adjusts easily for different body types and quick swaps between caregivers.
- Thoughtful extras like a removable zip pouch, side pockets, and UPF sun/nursing hood.
- Machine washable and backed by Ergobaby’s lifetime guarantee.
Cons of the Ergobaby Omni Breeze
- Pricey compared to some other carriers—this is a premium option.
- Bulkier than wraps or slings, so not as compact for tossing in a small bag.
- Learning curve for first-time users to figure out buckles, sliders, and seat adjustments.
- Not the lightest carrier—while breathable, it’s still more structured than minimalist styles.
Ergobaby Omni Breeze vs Omni 360
I used to have the Ergobaby Omni 360 before switching over to the Omni Breeze. I liked it so much I gave my 360 to a friend and never looked back. Here’s a comparison chart showing the main differences.

| Feature | Omni Breeze | Omni 360 / Omni 360 Cool Air Mesh |
|---|---|---|
| Mesh Coverage | Almost full-mesh design (SoftFlex), maximizing breathability | Uses mesh panels but has more solid fabric areas; less overall airflow compared to Breeze |
| Padding & Bulk | Shoulder straps and padding are somewhat reduced and more mouldable to help smaller frames fit better | More traditional padding — good for long wear but can feel bulkier on smaller or petite parents |
| Infant Seat Mechanism | Uses sliders for seat width/leg position, more hidden behind the panel | Similar mechanism in 360, but more exposed/visable sliders |
| Features / Updates | Adds reflective strips, extra pockets, better streamlined design, and foam cut-outs for ventilation in waistband | The 360 is a solid, proven design — less extreme in changes, fewer “extra” touches |
| Best For | Hot climates, active families, parents who want as much airflow as possible | More general use, especially for balanced use in moderate climates |
After years of using the Ergobaby Omni Breeze on hikes, travels, and everyday outings, I can confidently say it’s one of the best pieces of baby gear I own. It’s comfortable, durable, and truly grows with your child—which makes it worth every bit of the investment. If you’re looking for a carrier that can do it all, this is the one I’ll always recommend.
