Here is what we are getting our kids Christmas. This post is great if you are looking for gift ideas for 5 year old boys and gift ideas for 3 year old girls for Christmas.
For the past 3 years I have put together lists of gift ideas for kids and love pulling from things my kids already have and love. But I also find it fun to share what I’m actually getting my kids for Christmas.
Sometimes while I am searching for the gift ideas to share, I find things that I think my kids will love and end up purchasing them myself. Sometimes I don’t share what I end up getting them in my gift guides because the ideas come to me later or they are things specific to my kids and what they are currently enjoying.
Both Logan and I spent a lot of time deciding what to get our kids and making sure they would not be toys that ended up in the trash or donation pile a few weeks after Christmas was over. If you want to see If you wan to see What We Got Our Kids for Christmas 2023, be sure to check out this post!
Oh and we do have a new baby this year but I’m not going to buy him anything since he’s only a few weeks old! Maybe we’ll put out a new binky for him under the tree so the kids don’t think he got left out.
So with all of that being said, here are the Christmas gifts we are getting for our kids in 2024.

What I’m Getting My 5 Year Old Boy
Zingo Game
Zingo Game: Zingo is a cute Bingo style game that even kids who can’t read can play. Players race to match tiles to their cards using the fun Zinger dispenser. My sister has the game as do a few of my friends so my son has played it before and already loves it.
15′ Race Track
15′ Race Track: I’ve been eyeing this race track for over a year now and finally got it. It seems a bit expensive for a race track, but when it came in the mail, I could feel the quality. It’s larger than I expected and has a great weight to it. It’s also made in the USA. It can be stuck to car windows, walls, whiteboards, doors and I know my son will have a blast racing his cars down it. I can definitely see us bringing this on many camping trips.
Magnetic Tiles Car Track
Magnetic Tiles Car Track: Magnetic tiles are one of the most used toys in our house so I love to add to the collection. I think this box of road tiles will be a hit and just a fun way for the kids to continue playing with their magnet tiles.
My Encyclopedia of Very Important Things
My Encyclopedia of Very Important Things: I wanted to get my son a unique book this year and when I saw this, I knew he would love it. He is very into asking how everything works and why things are the way they are (what kids isn’t??). This book talks about everything from the planets, to how wind works, to how the pyramids were built. I know he’s going to love looking at the pictures and it will be a fun thing for us to read together.
Foam Pogo Jumper
Foam Pogo Jumper: I love trying to find gifts that keep my kids moving, even when we are inside. They have a lot of energy so anything to get their wiggles out is a win in my book. This pogo jumper had great reviews, isn’t expensive, and I think my son is going to love it.
What’s In My 5 Year Olds Stocking
- Spiderman Electric Toothbrush
- Yoto Cards (Discount haileyoutside10): We love our Yoto players so getting new cards for Christmas is always a hit
- James and the Giant Peach
- 5 Minute Spider Man Stories
- Charlotte’s Web
- Moana
- Candy Cane Tube: You know those clear candy cane tubes that have candy inside that you can get at Walmart for $2? Yeah, that’s what this is
- An Orange: We always grew up getting an orange in our stocking and I love continuing the tradition.
What I’m Getting My *Almost* 3 Year Old Girl
Honeybee Tree Game
Honeybee Tree Game: My daughter has recently been obsessed with bees and since I was getting her big brother a game, I wanted to get one for her too. This game is cute and fairly simple. Kids just carefully remove leaves to avoid dropping the bees from the tree.
Elsa Barbie Doll
Elsa Barbie Doll: Am I the only one that didn’t realize how affordable Barbies are? We are just now entering her lover for Barbies. Since she is obsessed with Elsa (and all things Frozen) we are grabbing this Elsa Barbie doll for her. I already know this will be joining us everywhere!
DIY Garden Building Set
DIY Garden Building Set: I was a little hesitant to buy this because I don’t love bringing things in our home that have a ton of pieces. But I have multiple friends who have this garden set and their kids love it. I think it will be a fun thing for her and her brother to do together and it comes with a container to hold all the pieces when they’re done.
Over the Ear Protection Headset
Over the Ear Protection Headset: My husband is a pilot and loves taking our oldest out on flights. The plane is super loud so you need ear protection. Our daughter is going to start going with him so I grabber her a pair of (pink of course) headphones that she can wear on flights. And any other noisy events we go to like the Monster Jam.
How to Catch a Mermaid Book
How to Catch a Mermaid Book: What little girl doesn’t want to read a book about mermaids? I know she will love reading this and looking at the colorful pictures.
Foam Pogo Jumper
Foam Pogo Jumper: Since I got this for my son and it’s age appropriate for both of them, I had to get one for my daughter as well. I love trying to find gifts that keep my kids moving, even when we are inside. They have a lot of energy so anything to get their wiggles out is a win in my book. This pogo jumper had great reviews, isn’t expensive, and I think my kids are going to love it.
What’s In My *Almost* 3 Year Olds Stocking
- Elsa Electric Toothbrush
- Yoto Cards (Discount Haileyoutside10): My daughter is really loving the Yoto Player and so I’m excited to give her some new cards to listen to:
- Frozen Bundle
- Snow White and the Seven Dwarves
- Frozen the Songs 1 and 2
- Candy Cane Tube: You know those clear candy cane tubes that have candy inside that you can get at Walmart for $2? Yeah, that’s what this is
- An Orange: We always grew up getting an orange in our stocking and I love continuing the tradition.
